	New facilities RESIDENCE OR DAY CARE CENTER FOR DOGS. THIS CANINE RESIDENCE IN MADRID WAS DESIGNED WITH THE WELL BEING OF DOGS IN MIND. OUR CAGES MEASURE 16 SQUARE METERS AND WE HAVE FOURTEEN RECREATIONAL PARKS FOR THE PURPOSE OF GUARANTEEING YOUR DOG COMFORT, FUN AND EXERCISE. Spending time at Granja la Luna is like taking a vacation in the countryside for our canine friends and provides them with refreshing new experiences.
I am a veterinarian and have devoted my life to ethology (the study of animal behavior). The modern design of our canine residence provides your dog with what he needs to have fun and play all day with his buddies in the parks. He can also watch all that is going on around him from inside his cage.

From within his cage, your dog will be able see everything that is 360 degrees around him. He will see all that is going on at the farm. He has direct access at will to the park outside of his cage. The cages do not open out directly onto a hallway. YOUR DOG WILL SPEND HOURS EACH DAY PLAYING IN OUR PARKS. THIS MEANS A LOT OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY WHICH MAKES IT UNNECESSARY FOR US TO WALK THEM. ABOVE ALL, WHEN YOUR DOG IS HERE, WE WANT HIM TO HAVE A FINE TIME.

We group the dogs by their size: small, medium and large. The purpose is to keep them from feeling intimidated. The recreational parks are full of trees which, in the summer, provide lots of shade where your dog can stretch out for a nap. During the daytime, the dogs are free to roam in the recreational parks. At mealtimes and at night, they are returned to their pens.

Our dogs should feel entertained at all times. Their barks should express happiness, not monotony. The sound of the dogs barking should be a sign that they feel good when they see new dogs or people. Boredom can bring on depression in dogs.

The caretakers are professional animal lovers. Your dog will be pampered and petted. He will hear words of affection and play ball or “catch me if you can” with our caretakers. Our goal is to leave your dog with a good feeling about his stay at Granja la Luna. This is achieved, we know, by the good work of our caretakers.	Come for a visit
	Come get acquainted with our installations and the people who will be taking care of your pet. Please come during the hours we are open to the public. You don’t have to ask for an appointment. We are always at your disposal. The facilities are cleaned twice a day. You will see this for yourself when you come.
The cages measure 16 square meters. This means your pet will have ample room for moving around (the cages are 8 meters long). Inside the cages, the walls are 20 cm thick and contain an air chamber. The weatherproofed roof is 5 cm thick. The building materials used keep out the heat of summer and the cold of winter. The smooth surfaced floor is made of polished concrete. This keeps your pet’s paws from being rubbed or chafed. The floor is inclined to avoid the formation of puddles of water or urine.

Some dogs prefer to be left alone. For this reason, the walls of the cages have been built to provide protection, peace and privacy. Your dog can go inside of his cage when he feels the need to be alone or if he feels intimidated by one of his neighbors.

We take special care of old dogs. They need more attention than young dogs. They need to take their pills, eat a special diet and be left to themselves in a quiet, peaceful place. Blind dogs will feel right at home at Granja la Luna. We are always surprised to see how quickly they adapt to their new surroundings and learn to move around in their pens.

FoodWe feed the dogs once a day. However, if you wish your dog to eat twice a day, we will, of course, follow your indications. The dry dog food we use is the AFFINITY brand ADVANCE Chicken flavored Performance. It is a top quality dog food easy to digest which the animals love. The dog food comes in three sizes – small, medium and large. Each size of dog gets his corresponding food allowance. We also have AFFINITY ADVANCE food for puppies. Puppies are fed two or three times a day. Dogs that do not eat dry food will be fed from tins of PEDIGREE PAL pâté. Our experience has shown that this brand of food is a favorite among dogs. If you wish your dog to be fed another brand of dry food or a special diet, you must supply us with this food and we will follow your instructions about how your pet should be fed. This circumstance will not imply a discount nor an additional amount to pay.
Medication If your animal requires a treatment with pills or injections, we will need you to indicate this to us in writing, together with the doses, instructions and the prescription given by your veterinarian. We must know about your dog’s medicinal needs before we welcome him to our center. We usually give the dog his pills inside a bit of hot dog. Most dogs have no objection to taking their pills like this. Insurance Granja la Luna has an insurance policy for civil responsibility which covers your dog from the moment he is picked up until the moment we return him to you. Contract When we pick your dog up, we have you sign a contract with us. The contract contains all necessary information about you and your pet. In this way your animal will be identified while he is with us and you will have in writing the conditions agreed on for his custody. Vaccinations Your dog must be vaccinated against rabies and have received the trivalent vaccine. The vaccination against kennel cough is not required but it is recommended. Telephone inquiries about your pet So long as you call us during our opening hours, we welcome your phone calls about your pet. It is natural that you should feel concerned and we are delighted to hear from you and tell you how your dog is doing. Our timetable Please be sure to check the hours we are open to the public by looking at our Timetable. No animals will be picked up nor returned to their owners outside our opening hours.

Important Information We cannot accept animals with contagious diseases or that have not been vaccinated or that do not bear the microchip identification number. We cannot accept dogs with problems of aggressiveness towards human beings, regardless of the breed. We cannot accept the following breeds: Pit-bull, American Staffordshire, Bull-terrier or any crosses of these breeds or similar breeds. We do accept: Watch dogs such as Rottweilers, dogos, presa canaria and similar breeds.
