Rodents

Residence for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, chinchillas, squirrels, raccoons and ferrets.

These delightful animals are quite fragile. Their timetables are different from ours: they play and eat from twilight until dawn. They sleep during the daytime and often, noises in our household will disturb them – children playing, washing machine running. They benefit enormously from a few days in the country where their natural timetable is respected.

We have a 100 square meter garden where we let rabbits run free. The amount of time they are let loose in the garden depends on the number of animals.

During the winter, rodents are kept indoors in a large room with big windows facing eastward through which the rays of sun shine in the morning.

During the summer, rodents are kept in a shady area outside. They are surrounded by birds and feel quite comfortable.

The rodent cages are cleaned daily. The litter we use is clean wood shavings. The animals like to move around in this litter and it protects their paws from chafing.

We feed your pet fresh water, store bought hay and fresh hay from our prairie. The animals are also fed fresh alfalfa and every now and then some freshly cut grass. Their diet also includes apples and carrots. We give them the best brands of dry rodent food. If you want us to feed your pet a brand preferred by you, we must ask you please to supply it and we will feed your pet this food.

All rodents must be delivered to Granja la Luna in an escape proof carry cage which is easy to manage and clean.

Considering the fragile constitution of rodents and the small size of the carry cages, there are times during the year that our delivery truck might not be able to pick the animal up at your home. This happens more in the summer due to the heat. Please phone us sufficiently ahead of the day you need to have your animal transported, in order for us to make the corresponding arrangements.

Ferrets

Their curiosity is limitless. In an apartment, they sometimes get bored. Here at Granja la Luna, there are lots of things for your ferret to investigate while being at all times safe. Ferrets are very active in the early hours of the day and at twilight. In their large indoor cage, the time is marked by sunlight and ferrets organize their day around the movement of the sun. They adapt very well to their new environment.

Granja la Luna is a perfect solution for you when it is time for you to go on vacation. It is not always easy to get a friend or a family member to baby-sit for your ferret. Here, your pet will be well cared for.

We feed your ferret one of the best brands of dry ferret food. These animals have very delicate intestines.

When you bring your ferret to us, the animal must be in an escape proof cage which is easy to manage and to clean. We recommend that the cage has something the ferret can hide in and sleep peacefully.

We use wood shavings as litter. Ferrets play with the shavings and hide under them. The shavings help the animals to stay clean.

Ferrets must be handled very carefully when they are transported. For this reason, our delivery truck might not be able to fetch your ferret on a busy day, especially in the summer time. Please phone us sufficiently ahead of the day you need to have your animal transported, in order for us to make the corresponding arrangements.
